“While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, ‘Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee, that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” Luke 24:4-7 (ESV)
Day Forty. Can you believe it?!? For the last forty days, we have been studying the death and crucifixion of Jesus. We have seen how Abraham was taught the gospel through the sacrifice of Isaac. We have connected the Old Testament and the New Testament. We revealed how Jesus truly is our Passover Lamb. And, I hope you have a deeper understanding of the suffering Jesus endured on the cross.
I pray that you feel more loved than you have ever felt. I pray that you have a deeper appreciation and understanding of the cross and the gospel. I hope that you truly believe that Jesus died for YOU! You are that important. You are that special. You are priceless in His eyes.
We have examined every part of the crucifixion, but today we rejoice! Because, He IS Risen!
“Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your string?” (1 Corinthians 15:55)
The beauty of the cross is that we can now live with Christ forever! Jesus’ death on the cross was not the end; it was the beginning!
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)
Jesus suffered so that we don’t have to endure eternal separation from God. He paid the price for our sin on the cross. It is the great exchange. His righteousness for our sin. Now, when God looks at us, He sees Jesus. We are the righteousness of Christ. If you have confessed with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believed in your heart that God has raised him from the dead you are saved, and you have been given the gift of eternal life. Amazing! My debt has been paid. Your debt has been paid. There is nothing else you can do. The cross is enough. The sacrifice of Jesus was full and complete. There is no other sacrifice left to make. All we must do now is believe on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved!
Because of this great news, we have a job to do. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” (Matthew 28:19)
Don’t keep this good news to yourself. Share it. Tell your friends and your family. Tell your coworkers and your neighbors. Make Jesus famous!
Personal Reflection: Who can you tell about the Good News of Salvation this Easter season?
